My name is Ted Corcoran and I am the Strength and Conditioning Director at St. Francis High School in La Canada. I have been there for 5 years and is a great place to work. I also am an assistant coach on the varsity football team, and we have a playoff game this Friday. I have coached at Alemany, Chaminade, and Chatsworth High Schools. I have coached just about every position on the football field and there is no finer job in the world that helping young boys grow into confident, strong men! I am very proud of who my former players have become! On a personal note I have been married for almost 8 years, and we have 3 kids, ages 5, 3, and 10 months.

Our program consists of 3 levels of teams; varsity (about 60 players per season), junior varsity (40 players per season), and a freshmen team (85 players per season.) Each team has its own coaching staff, but considers itself one staff. All the teams run the same offense and defense as the lower levels emphasize teaching the system for when the players get to the varsity level.
St. Francis is an all boys school located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, located very close to the Rose Bowl. The school has been in existence since 1952 and is run my that Capuchin Franciscans. It is a school the strives to follow the example of the life and deeds of St. Francis of Assisi. And each year around 25-35 students will go on a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi to strengthen that relationship.
2011 Season Highlights
The 2011 season was a very successful one for the Golden Knights. The varsity posted a record of 9 wins against 3 losses. The wins were against 7 playoff teams and the last loss of the year was a very hotly contested game against the eventual CIF Western Division Champion, Arroyo Grande. The team started out the season with an incredible come from behind win against a talented Arcadia team. Behind 20-2 in the middle of the second quarter, St. Francis was able to pull out the win with a last second field goal to win 31-28. From there the Golden Knights recorded another 5 victories in a row, but stumbled against league champion Serra. After a second setback against Chaminade, the Knights finished the season with 3 consecutive victories before losing in the quarterfinals to AG.
The football program at St. Francis High School in La Canada strives to instill the Franciscan values by teaching the game of football. We believe that there is a right way to win and lose. We will treat each opponent with respect and strive to play the game in a hard, physical, but fair manner. Our players are asked to do things the right way all the time! We ask them to give up some of their identity for the benefit of the team, and this is expressed by the players shaving their heads to form a bond of 1 team vs. 60 individuals. We also require them to dress the same. The phrase used often is we play for the name on the front, and therefore, nothing that takes attention away from that is allowed. v
